Overview: advanced location near beautiful lighthouse. There is a large deep lagoon inside the reef and good surfing on the reef. The area is often referred to as Cape Zanpa. The actual beach that you launch from is called Uza Beach. Wind: SW to N Tides: 1.3+ for launch
Getting there
There is a dirt parking area right next to the beach.
Launch conditions: Advanced. beach is narrow, especially at high tide. There are some bushes to anchor from. Drift launch is possible. North wind caution: As the winds approach directly north, the large Grand Mercure hotel causes swirling gusty wind at the launch location. If the wind has any
east component, launching is not recommended.
Local Hazards
Obstructions: There are a few metal stakes and buoys near the swimming area. Reef currents and rocks: Near the rock outcropping 300m from the lighthouse, there are some submerged rocks and very strong currents.
Other beach users
There are usually not to many users on Uza beach itself. In the lagoon, there can be snorkelers, SUPs, and jet skis.
